Antalya
is the visitor capital of Turkey. As you go into the Tourist
Information Office, you always meet a foreigner trying to get
information on buying real estate in Antalya. Many people from all
around the world fell in love with this wonderful settlement.
Antalya is a large, organized city. If the turquoise coast is the
crown of Mediterranean, Antalya is the jewel of that crown with
its historic heritage,cultural
facilities and small surrounding settlements. Long beaches,
mysterious caves, fields of wheat hidden
between the hills of the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean...

will never want to leave here...
SHOPPING
: There
are numerous shops in Antalya. World and nation wide companies
have branches here. Especially summer collections will persuade
you. Women’s ware and jewellery will dazzle ladies. Silverware
is available everywhere and deserves a close look. Local
accessories like bangles, necklaces with evil-eye-beads will
certainly tempt you. Around the archaeological sites there are
always a few people selling items related to the site’s
character such as statuettes of gods, models of temples or
St.Nicholas figurines.
Whether
in or out of Antalya you don’t have the slightest chance of
leaving the resort without visiting a carpet or leather shop. They
are all best quality and have reasonable prices.
ART& CULTURE :
The
Antalya Altin Portakal (Golden Orange) Film and Art Festival, held
in the autumn, attracts both participants and visitors. The
ancient theater in Aspendos makes an impressive setting for some
of the festival's plays and concerts.
MUSEUMS
:
The
Archaeological Museum, with remains from the Paleolithic Age to
Ottoman times, offers a glimpse of the area's rich history. The
Ataturk Museum displays objects used by the founder of the Turkish
Republic.
ANTALYA CUSINE :
Antalya is a city in the
Mediterrenean Region which is famous for its historical and
natural riches. In May and June, the city is
filled with the scent of a natural perfume bestowed on by the
flora. The city is an important tourist center. On the same day
one can have the opportunity to participate in winter and summer
sports. As it is in all the places in the world, Antalya cousine
is determined by the regional products.
The crops mostly grown are
citrus, bananas, sesame, peanuts, soy beans tomatoes, cucumbers,
green beans, zucchini, and egg plants. There are also olive trees
in Antalya. Due to hot climate, vegetables and fruits are dominant
in Antalya cuisine.
This research on Antalya cousine
was accomplished in 1982 by interviewing ten women over the age of
fifty. The purpose of this study was to record all the food
customs, traditions and the food eaten in ceremonies that are
about to disappear. Although most of the following findings are
being utilized, some of them are not used because of the changes
in the habits of people, technological improvements and other
related effects.

HEALTH
:
If
you are sensitive to heat try to plan your trip between April and
May. If you get any health problems you should not worry about it
at all. You will be in the hands of highly specialised medical
staff of Antalya hospitals.
HOSPITALS
:
For emergencies the town hospitals are open 24 hours a day and
most of the duty doctors are bilingual. An ambulance service may
be requested from hospitals for emergencies.
PHARMACIES :
There are a large number of pharmacies (Eczane) in the
town, open during business hours. In each area there is a pharmacy
open 24-hour for emergencies. To learn which pharmacy is on
duty, check with your tour operator, the notices posted on the
pharmacy windows or call information on 118. All medicine is
available, yet strong painkillers, tranquilizers, and some other
medicine require prescription.
